Prayag, Uttar Pradesh, India— Gaurav Srivastava, a versatile creative force known for his work as a music director, sound engineer, lyricist, video editor, actor, singer and occasional dance choreographer, continues to make waves in the independent music scene. Known for handling every stage of music creation—from concept to final release—Gaurav has built a reputation for originality, dedication, and uncompromising passion.

Early Life: A Voice That Started in a Village
Gaurav’s musical journey began in his childhood, where singing was his first love. His village recognised his talent early, and several schools even waived his fees on the condition that he sang during morning prayers. These experiences made him realise that his voice held emotional power and a value that resonated deeply with people.
From Corporate Accountant to Music Creator
Before entering the professional music world, Gaurav worked as an accountant in multiple companies. However, his breakthrough moment came unexpectedly when he composed a spontaneous song titled “PAGAAR” during an office event. The heartfelt lyrics expressed the pain of employees whose salaries were unfairly delayed. The impact of the song was so strong that the management immediately released all pending salaries with compensation.
This defining moment proved to him that music could spark real change.
Breakthrough with “Mazhab” and Industry Recognition
Determined to pursue his passion, Gaurav travelled to Varanasi to record his original song “Mazhab” professionally. The track received widespread appreciation, and the studio team supported him without charging, impressed by his talent.
After the song’s release, Mitali Creation, Mumbai, honoured him with the “Biggest Composer of India” award. Soon after, renowned Bollywood singer Shankar Sahney approached him for the composition “Madhoshi”, a collaboration that brought Gaurav recognition in newspapers and local media.

Becoming an Independent Music Producer
Financial challenges and family responsibilities pushed Gaurav toward self-reliance. To save production costs, he closely observed professional musicians while creating “Ram Naam Satya Hai”, learning every detail of composition, arrangement, and production.
Within a short time, he mastered the entire process and became fully independent—capable of creating complete songs on his own, a skillset he continues to rely on today.
Supporting and Launching New Talent
Instead of focusing solely on his own singing career, Gaurav dedicated himself to uplifting new voices. His most impactful collaboration began when Shilpi Saxena from Prayagraj sought an opportunity. After her audition, he instantly recognized her exceptional talent.
Her debut track “Ibadat”, composed by Gaurav, gained strong appreciation and led to a series of successful collaborations including:
- Ibadat
- Jhoomle
- Diljaniya
- Saathiya
- Marjawangi
- Ho Cheen Ya Pakistan
- Shani Puran
Her success inspired Gaurav to temporarily step back from singing and fully focus on producing music.
Introducing Modern Sanskrit Music
Recognizing the lack of contemporary Sanskrit tracks, Gaurav expanded into this niche area. He began composing innovative Sanskrit songs such as:
- Jeevane Tu Bhavatu Sanskritam
- Sanskritasya Ganga Pravahati
- Namostute He Veena Vadini
His goal is to preserve and celebrate the ancient language while presenting it in fresh, modern musical styles.
The Journey Ahead
After Shilpi later shifted to a medical career, Gaurav continued his mission to mentor new talent. He has since worked with singers like Abhilasha Srivastava, Shivani Singh, Shalu Gupta, Aanya Rawat, and Anshu Maurya, each adding new dimensions to his musical direction.
Even today, Gaurav continues searching for his next long-term collaborator while staying committed to meaningful, independent music creation.
